Reporting to the Energy Engineering Lead, the Civil Technician/Construction Technician will be reliable and hardworking. You will be responsible for performing various physical tasks to assist with the smooth operations of assigned projects. This is a hands-on role that requires physical strength and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. We work on various types of job sites.

What You’ll Do:
The Civil Technician will be part of the TULLOCH Engineering team. You will:

 
  • Assist Project Managers in all aspects of project delivery
  • Prepare preliminary and detailed designs and drawings for various Civil Engineering projects
  • Ensure plans are in compliance with applicable standards and drafting requirements
  • Estimation of tender quantities
  • Supervise geotechnical drilling and test pitting assignments
  • Perform soil classification, logging, and sampling
  • Inspect and monitor construction
  • Prepare reports
  • Act as a liaison for communication with clients

Who You Are:
 
  • You have 2-5 years of experience in the Civil Engineering industry
  • You have mechanical aptitude, with a preference for candidates possessing a background in construction or a related field
  • Ability to lift heavy items (20 – 50 lbs) and engage in physically demanding work
  • Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions meticulously
  • You enjoy repetitive, routine work and long periods of travel (2-4 weeks at a time)
  • You are comfortable driving a truck towing a heavy trailer
  • You exercise independent judgement within defined parameters and in alignment with business objectives
  • You are trusted and provided freedom to work independently but also contribute to the overall team success
  • You are legally eligible to work in the US and/or hold US work authorization
     
What You Should Bring:
The ideal candidate will have a post-secondary degree or diploma in Construction or Civil Engineering Technician/Technologist or an equivalent program, or an acceptable combination of education and relevant experience. Additionally, you should have:

 
  • High motivation with results-oriented focus
  • Superior organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Strong interpersonal and critical thinking skills
  • Unwavering commitment to health & safety in the workplace
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
  • The ability to work overtime as required
  • Valid driver’s license
